Overview
We scheduled this tour for the Spring Migrations, while it is in full flow,we have great opportunities to see a great number of migrants,the tour starts from Shanghai and surounding coast where we target mainly for Spoon-billed Sandpipers and lots of migrants, then we try China’s High-speed train to Wuyuan, where we will look for Courtois’s Laughingthrush,Spotted Elachura,Pied Faconet,then we drive south to Emei feng mainly to look for the rare Southeast China Endemic Cabot’s Tragopan, Elliot’s Pheasant and White-nacklaced Partridge, then go to Nanchang, after, fly/train back to Shanghai and the tour ends in Shanghai.

Itinerary
Arrive in Shanghai, Meet with our local guide and driver, then drive to Nanhui. Nanhui conserves the best reed beds as well as mudflats, we can easily find Reed Parrotbill and Japanese Swamp
Warbler(Marsh Grassbird),it is also a very good place for migrants, we shall see many Flycatchers
and Warblers, Dark-sided, Asian Brown, Blue-and-white, Narcissus, Yellow-rumped and Mugimaki Flycatchers, Pallas’s Leaf Warbler,Yellow-browed, Arctic, Pale-legged and Eastern Crowned Warblers. Night in Nanhui.
Drive to Rudong, mainly to look for the rare Spoon-billed Sandpiper, and Nordmann’s
Greenshank, Chinese Egret(Swinhoe’s). the other speices include Red-necked Stints, Red Knot,
Sanderling, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Dunlin, Curlew Sandpiper , Broad-billed Sandpiper, Great
Knot, Kentish Plovers, Mongolian and Greater Sandplovers, Terek Sandpiper and Grey-tailed
Tattler, Grey Plover, Pacific Golden Plovers, Common Greenshank, Common Redshank,
Bar-tailed Godwit, Eurasian Whimbrel, Eurasian Curlew, long-billed ,Far Eastern Curlew,Eurasian
Oystercatcher ,Black-winged Stilt, Pied Avocet, Common Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank, Marsh,

Night in Jianggang Town.

Birding in the morning, then we drive back to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, take the
High-speed Train to Wuyuan, Night in Wuyuan.
Wuyuan is a very beautiful country area in Jiangxi province, the forest coverage here reached to 85 %, and it is home to 370 bird species, There are many ancient villages scattered around the area, some rare birds have also found their home in the trees nearby the villages, the Courtois’s Laughingthush(Blue-crowned Laughthingthrush in Chinese)is the rarest in the area, the total number of this species is estimated only around 200. We will spend some time with them on a small island near a village. another good bird we could see here is Pied Falconet, they are widely spread the whole south China, but not easy to see in some other places. they other birds we are here to look for include Mandarin Duck, Chinese Bamboo-Partridge, Black Baza, Chinese Sparrowhawk, Long-billed Plover, Large Hawk-cuckoo, Indian Cuckoo, Crested Kingfisher, Grey-capped Pygmy Woodpecker, White-throated Needletail, Swinhoe’s and Grey-chinned Minivets, Brown-breasted, Chinese and Chestnut Bulbuls, Dollarbird, Black-winged Cuckooshrike, Dusky and Grey-cheeked Fulvettas, Collared Finchbill, White-crowned Forktail, Chinese Hwamei, White-browed, Masked and Moustached Laughingthrushes, Rufous-faced Warbler, Black-throated Bushtit, Short-tailed Parrotbill, Grey Treepie, Black-collared and Red-billed Starlings. After some early morning time in Wuyuan, we will move on for a 6 hours drive to Emeifeng, if
our time is still ok, we will in search of the Elliot's Pheasant for the rest of the afternoon. night at
Emeifeng.

We spend half day in Emeifeng to look for the birds we might still missing, then drive 4.5
hours to Nanchang, Over night in Nanchang.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our Southeast China birding trip is very easy and leisure, we can drive to all the destinations, no need to climb mountains.
We strongly recommend to take a telescope for shorebirds, our guide will take one but that is mainly to help to spot the birds, if you want long time watching and enjoy the birds, we suggest you take your own telescope. We will buy the rubber boots at a local store for you, please tell us your size before the trip.
For Eastern China Tour, we have very good chance to try differnt kinds of food, for breakfast, we can try traditional Chinese style,we can also prepare western style with Bread, Peanut Butter, Jam, Coffee, Tea(Both green tea and black tea), Hot Water,Milk, Yogurt,Seasonal Fruits. Lunches and dinners will be in local popular restaurants or hotel,we might also try some dumplings,noodles or western style whenever possible just for a change, a few packed picnic lunches will be prepared wherever neccessary.
Most of hotels we will be staying are in good standard, especially the hotels in the cities, but a few places only have guesthouse standard hotels,like Emeifeng, we will arrange to stay at the best one, where wifi is available, quiet, clean and comfortable.
