This 12-day odyssey traverses the Central Plains of Henan — the cradle of Chinese civilization, where the Yellow River gave birth to the world’s longest continuous culture. Here, in the heartland between Zhengzhou, Dengfeng, Luoyang, and Anyang, the defining pillars of Chinese identity were forged: Buddhism took root at the White Horse Temple, Zen martial arts were born at Shaolin, Confucian scholarship flourished at Songyang Academy, and the Shang Dynasty left its oracle bones buried beneath the earth for over three millennia, waiting to reveal the earliest known Chinese writing.
This journey is not a survey course. It is a deep, unhurried immersion into four distinct layers of the Chinese story — the spiritual (Shaolin Temple and the Zen tradition), the philosophical (Songyang Academy and Confucian thought), the imperial (Longmen Grottoes and the grandeur of Tang-era devotion), and the archaeological (the Shang Dynasty ruins at Yinxu, where China’s first written characters were unearthed).
